Abstract

Poverty is one of the indicators that shows a region's development. Examining and measuring the factors influencing poverty can help policymakers make better decisions for regional development. This study aimed to investigate the strategy of poverty reduction on the Makran coast. For this purpose, we used household income expenditure data in the period 1364-1384 and designed a linear expenditure system on the Makran coast. In the second step, the Quantile regression method is used to study the effect of different variables on poverty with an emphasis on health and culture index. In order to calculate the health and culture index, the principal components analysis method will be used. The results show that indicators of financial development, health, and culture reduce poverty on the Makran coast. Also, the results suggest that increasing employment helps reduce poverty when poverty rates are low. But as poverty increases, increasing employment does not reduce poverty on the coast.
