Abstract

Food supply is one of the main challenges for future human societies, and proper planning in the agricultural sector can reduce the threats and challenges in this area. For this reason, agriculture is one of the basic foundations and national security of any country, because it has a significant share in value added and employment. The aim of this study was to evaluate the productivity changes of total agricultural production factors in Iran and the application of productivity indicators in the period 1988-2017 using data from the sample statistical survey of the Ministry of Jihad Agriculture and macro information of the agricultural sector. The official statistics centers are based on the non-parametric method and the application of the traditional Malm Quest index and the new Farperimont and Hicks-Morstin indicators. The results of the calculations show that the average changes in total productivity in Iranian agriculture for the Malm Quest index (20.4% increase), Farprimont (8.8% increase), Hicks-Morstin (2% increase). The average increase in productivity changes indicates an increase in technological changes in that period. Therefore, in order to increase the productivity of the agricultural sector by using newer technology and optimal consumption of inputs in the production of agricultural products, it is possible to increase the productivity in production as an executive strategy.
