Impact of agricultural trade on economic development of Iran

Abstract

ricultural sector is one of the largest sectors of most of the developing countries of the world. The sector can help development by employing labor force, providing capital, and supplying raw materials for the industrial sector and food for the population. It is also a source of foreign exchange. Various research works have shown that the share of agriculture in the international trade and in the GDP of different countries has fallen. The fall in the share of the sector in international trade is due to the rise in the share of other products. This paper uses ECM to investigate the role of agricultural international trade on Iran’s economic growth during 1360 to 1390. The research shows that there is a positive relationship between the growth of international trade in agriculture and Iran’s economic growth, with the effect of 0.14% increase in the country’s economic growth for any 1% increase in the agricultural exports of Iran.; ;
